Wildflowers grow in the most unlikely places; hard, dry spots like parking lots, sidewalk cracks, asphalt drives.
How? By going deep.
They send down roots deep into the soil. That’s where the water is.
Thus, they survive the daily blasts of sun and heat while other plants wilt.
That’s the kind of faith I want. Faith that grows in spite of… So, I better go deep.
“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:17-19
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:6-7
“But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8
Why don’t you tell the Lord you want to go deep. You can pray this Wildflower Prayer from Ephesians 3 above: “Father, I want to go deep. I want to be rooted and established in Your love so I can have power to grasp how wide and long and high and deep Your love is. I want to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that I may be filled to the measure of all Your fullness. I want to be a wildflower. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
