The Iron Giant is one of my favorite movies. A metal-eating giant (made of metal-like material from another planet) lands on earth to destroy it and accidentally eats a power station (it makes sense in the movie) which is just about to electrocute him to death, when he’s dramatically saved at the last minute by a little boy who flips the power switch to “off”.
The giant suffers a head injury that, we find out later, changes his personality and allows him to befriend the boy. They have fun adventures together and share some really sweet moments.
Toward the end, though, the boy is injured when the military freaks out and starts blasting the friendly giant. Watch the dramatic ending below (11 minutes). At first it’s really cool, then really sweet and illustrates my point later on….
You choose… each day you choose what kind of person you will be. Will you be a “gun” that hurts people? Or a “Superman” or woman? You choose when you decide to either grab a Bible and read and pray about your day, or hop out of bed and blast through your day “shooting from the hip”
Sometimes it helps to have a plan. Click on this link for a daily Bible reading plan: http://www.enewhope.org/bible/
“This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19
