Fill Me

“For God…made his light shine in our hearts…”  2 Corintihians 4:6

King Solomon had just finished building a beautiful temple for the Lord.  Everything was made of, or covered in gold.  So glittery and shiny in the candlelight as the king spoke an eloquent prayer of dedication to the Lord.  Suddenly, a shocking thing happened.  Fire from heaven shot down and “consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.”  2 Chronicles 7:1 Wow!

The temple was so filled that the priests couldn’t even get in!

The New Testament says that we Christians are now the temple of the Lord and His glory is in us. * Wow!

The temple’s prayer:

“Fill me, Father, with Your glory, so full that there’s no room for other loves; no room in the inn of my heart save for the babe born in Bethlehem.

You cleared the temple when you were here on earth of those offensive money changers. **  Clear my heart of all that offends You.  May my heart’s song be “Come to my heart, Lord Jesus, there is room in my heart for You.”

*”Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

**”In the temple courts he found men selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money.  So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.  To those who sold doves he said, ‘Get these out of here! How dare you turn my Father’s house into a market!’ ” John 2:14-16
