Fixated

Alison's eye“Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you.” Proverbs 4:25

I just read another person’s blog.  It was amazing.  As I read, though, I got discouraged.  I thought, “Wow!  Why am I even doing Gloriadelia?  What’s the point when something this awesome’s available to encourage people?  My blog’s just a little drop compared to this splash.”

God whispered to me between the ears and said, “Me.”   As in, “Keep your eyes on Me (Jesus). Not on her or them, or you, but Me.”

Comparing our efforts to others is usually always discouraging. I need to focus on the uncomparable Christ, the author and perfector of my faith (Hebrews 12:2), who uses the weak and lowly of this world to shame the wise and polished (1 Corinthians 1:27), Who is strong when we are weak and is, in fact, exalted in our weaknesses ( 2 Corinthians 12:9-10).  Him, and Him alone…

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18
